Inter Link Volunteer Awards 2007 As we all know, it is very difficult to recruit volunteers, who are willing to make a commitment and give up their time. Another thing we know is that they are invaluable within netball. When it comes to organising and attending events volunteers are essential for a netball club to be sustained and developed on a long-term basis. When a volunteer’s hard work, enthusiasm and effort is recognised and rewarded it is a great achievement. That is exactly what has happened to Sarah Goulden, who won the Sport Category of the 2007 Inter Link Volunteer Awards.
Inter Link works with voluntary organisations, private and statutory authorities. They promote and support community and voluntary work in Rhondda Cynon Taff. Sarah has been a member of Llantrisant Netball Club since she was 10 years old, and started competing in the Mid Glamorgan Junior League. At 13 she started playing senior netball in the Barry League and progressed to the Cardiff and District League, where she still plays. Sarah has also represented her county of Mid Glamorgan. Sarah started helping head coach Jean Foster with the junior section of the club, when she was 16 years old, passing her WNA Level 1 Coaching Award in the process. Jean Foster Head Coach of Llantrisant netball Club said “ Sarah’s dedication and enthusiasm is second to none when it comes to our club. Not only does she play, she arranges fundraising events, coaches the juniors, umpires, attends all events and has helped with the design and procurement of the club kit. Sarah also regularly suggests ways of improving and developing our club. To sum everything up, Sarah is one of the reasons I have managed to keep going with the club as long as I have!!” Many congratulations to Sarah on her achievement. It is very well deserved and we hope she keeps up the good work and commitment that she currently displays!!
