High Performance Umpires Group

A new co-ordinating group has been set up to assist in the development of Umpires, to work at an elite level. The groups' key role is:

"To identify high performance umpires and provide them with a co-ordinated support programme to achieve their International Qualification".

Umpires have been invited to apply for a position in the High Performance Umpires Group, to work alongside mentors and the Welsh Netball Squads. A group of eight umpires, with reserves will be given the opportunity in the first year of running.

These umpires will be fitness tested and have training programmes to follow. They will have sessions to focus on umpiring theory and apply this in practice, plus work with the Welsh Netball Coaches and link in with the players in the various squads.

As the game continues to get faster, harder and more challenging, it is important that the standard of umpiring develops with it. It is our aim to provide the opportunity for umpires to extend their knowledge and expertise in order to gain the highest qualification.
