Welsh Netball Squad Selection policy - Welsh Institute of Sport Netball Academy, Wales Emerging and Wales U21/U19 squads of up to 16 players will be selected annually. Wales U17 squad of 16 players will be selected from the two Centres of Excellence squads. - Initial selection does not guarantee a permanent position in the squad. Movement of players between squads will occur should injuries happen or the coach believes a player change will be more beneficial to the squad. - The Welsh Netball Selection Panel, comprising 4 National squad coaches and 3 appointed Welsh selectors select the Welsh squads. - The Welsh Netball Selection panel have the right to co-opt players to the Welsh squads.
- "Residency" is defined as an unbroken period of residency in Wales. Non-Welsh students attending Welsh Universities and Colleges are not eligible for the first two years of their course. - Once the terms of eligibility have been met and representation taken place, the player retains the eligibility status provided that the commitment to Wales is maintained. - Areas must inform Welsh Netball prior to the commencement of the Inter Area Open Championship of any players unavailable for selection to national squads and / or any of its activities, including team tours. Selection Procedure - The selection for the Welsh squads encompasses the annual netball calendar (September 1 - August 31) - Welsh Netball Selection Panel will observe games and player performances at the following events to ensure players are given adequate opportunities to be viewed prior to final selections for squads and teams:
