WSA LAUNCH CHILDREN’S SPORTING PROGRAMME INITIATIVE

Former Olympic sprinter Jamie Baulch triggered the starting pistol to an initiative launched by the Welsh Sports Association (WSA) this month that will give individuals a unique opportunity to help them save £1,000s on everyday purchases, and raise money to keep Welsh kids active.

The Welsh Sports Association, the umbrella for all national governing bodies of sport and physical recreation in Wales, has developed a programme called the Welsh Sport’ers Club, which it intends to rollout to the rest of the UK. The Sport'ers (short for Sport Supporters) Club has brought together a vast range of specially negotiated discounts, with up to 60% off goods and services such as DVDs, electrical goods, bikes, gifts, insurance, and holidays.

A small commission from purchases is paid to the WSA, who will distribute all of the profits from the programme to key national governing bodies of sport.

The savings available through the Sport'ers Club range from £270 on a cruise costing £900, around £80 per person on a Center Parcs holiday, £50 off a child's bicycle and £1.49 off a £9.99 CD. Staff and customers who register also receive regular news on new offers and are entered into prize draws for exclusive sports and leisure related prizes.

The WSA's Commercial Development Officer, David Cotton, added: “The Welsh Sport’ers Club provides individuals with the opportunity of not only receiving substantial savings and discounts on products and services, but also helps to raise funds for children’s sporting programmes in Wales”
