2007 NATIONAL CLUBS At the 2006 National Clubs a forum was held to discuss the future of the national clubs championship. Teams present raised a number of concerns primarily that the championship had lost its prestige. During September ’06 Welsh Netball held a National Events Review in Llandrindod Wells. All areas were invited to send 5 representatives to contribute to the evaluation and forward planning of Netball Events in Wales. From the Championship Forum and Events Review emerged the ‘NEW LOOK’ National Clubs. The Top 16 clubs from across Wales affiliated Netball leagues were invited to attend the Nationals. The 2007 championship welcomed the top 12 teams:
Games were played with great skill and spirit with a number of ex internationals taking to the courts alongside current players and potential future players. The semi finals brought Central and Deeside together and a local league clash between Harriers and Dinas A. Both Semi’s were closely contended with Deeside and Dinas A emerging to take the final places. The first half finished 6-4 in Deeside’s favour with both teams playing excellent netball. Deeside showed in the second half that they had what it takes and won comfortably 12-5. 2007 NATIONAL CLUBS CHAMPIONS DEESIDE NETBALL CLUB
I would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone that was involved in making the championship a success: players, coaches, umpires, officials, volunteers, supporters, UWIC staff and WNA staff.
