U16 Inter Area Championships

Bangor University
25th & 26th March 2006
Hosted by Eryri Schools Association

All areas made their journey to Bangor University for what was to be our BEST national championship to date. The behind the scenes organisation by Eryri Schools Association created a fantastic basis for this very successful event. The teams had their stage set all they need to do was perform and didn’t they just!

The U16 age group definitely kept their supporters happy and coaches on the end of their benches. The championship was highlighting a strong contender for the title on Sunday morning. A nail biting turnaround between Cardiff & the Vale and South East opened the championship title race. The title was to be decided on goal average with Glamorgan Valleys beating South East to the top spot.

Second – S E Wales
Third – Afan Nedd Tawe
Fourth – Cardiff & Vale
Fifth – N E Wales
Sixth – Eryri
Seventh – West Wales
Eighth - Powys

Our sport would not function without the continual support of our dedicated volunteers. Welsh Netball would like to thank the umpires, coaches, team managers and the team of volunteers from Eryri Schools Association for making the weekend a success. We would also like to extend our thanks to the supporters that followed the teams to the event - we appreciate your commitment to Netball in Wales.

The standard of performance at this year’s championship was impressive to all who had the pleasure of watching. The Future of Welsh Netball is bright and all players who took part should be proud of their achievement of area representation.
