The Celtic Dragons have been confirmed as one of the eight successful franchises in the 2012 Fiat Netball Superleague. England Netball had decided to reduce the number of competing teams from nine to eight, asking all franchises to submit a bid. There was one additional bid from a franchise in the West Midlands, meaning 10 bids for eight places.
Chief Executive, Mike Fatkin said " We're naturally delighted. It's been a long and sometimes tortuous process, waiting for the outcome, but we can now focus on the coming season and start to put in place all of our provisional plans.
We sympathise with the two unsuccessful franchises. This is an important competition and as soon as the announcement to reduce the number of teams was made, we knew that someone was going to be extremely disappointed.
Melissa and the team made significant progress last season and we always felt we had a strong case as a result. We can now seek to build on that success. Our goal is to make the top four within the next four years and we'll be working as hard as possible to achieve that"
