29 June 2011
After a lovely send-off from Cardiff and a delicious brunch provided by Tiger Tiger, we had a four hour bus journey and a twelve hour flight to look forward to. After a sleepless night for many players, we finally arrived in our World Championship destination and the heat was almost unbearable with the temperatures reaching 35 degrees.

Even the thought of training in this temperature was exhausting. However, the squad quickly acclimatised and enjoyed two training sessions and a warm up game vs the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport). After a competitive 60 minutes, with all combinations of players being tried and tested, a great performance was produced and all targets were achieved in each quarter. Players recovered well with an ice bath and pool session in preparation for Friday's warm up game vs Jamaica.

In addition to the serious business of the World Championships, the squad also helped Becky James celebrate her 26th birthday upon arrival in Singapore!

The squad is about to check into the Swisshotel - the team hotel for the event.

We'll keep you posted with the latest news throughout the tournament.

25 June 2011
The Wales squad departed the Sport Wales National Centre this afternoon for their journey to Singapore and the World Netball Championships 2011. The squad will continue their preparation once they arrive with training matches against the AIS and Jamaica before the first match of the competition, against Trinidad and Tobago on Monday 4 July.
